Why?

We have a passion for human prehistory, the tangible pieces of our collective history. We want to learn about the past in ways that books cannot teach us. To do that, we build relationships with the communities whose heritage we are so privileged to work with. We recognize that settler and colonial histories have had significant adverse impacts to indigenous communties across the globe and while we may be technical experts the communities hold the real knowledge; the meaning behind the work we do. Together with the communities whose lands and waters we work on, we create collaborative programs to ensure that the cultural perspective and priorities are emeshed with our technical expertise along side the communities we work with.

In British Columbia all archaeological sites, whether recorded or not, intact or disturbed are protected under the Heritage Conservation Act (HCA). This means developers and various proponents need to do archaeology from time-to-time. To do archaeology in BC, it is required to have a valid HCA Permit adiminstered by the Archaeology Branch . A qualified, permit eligible archaeologist is required to hold valid permits, and the works required to meet permit obligations and proponents needs.
